Lester Who

“It’s Vladimir Putin,” Kris jokes as he answers his cellphone in a foreign language. I’m sitting across from a man who I imagine has seen things I’ve only read in books. He’s lived in Germany, Canada and now the USA. J-Beats, a Subaru salesman who’s no stranger to Lester Who, approached me with the opportunity to film Kris, a customer who speaks fluent Polish. “What am I supposed to do? It’s not like Lester Glenn has a translator,” I said to J, concerned how this testimonial would end up. Luckily, Kris speaks at least three languages that I know of, one being English. As I waited for his call to be through, I wondered what we’d speak about. “So how does this go?” He asked in English. “Just speak about your experience today,” I answered, “and if you could let me know what you said in English, I’d appreciate it.” As he floated between Polish, Russian and English, a certain air of mystery surrounded us.
